Home Sleep Study
Suspect you have sleep apnea?
After one night of use, your home sleep study will be analyzed by a sleep-trained respirologist to determine if you have sleep apnea, with therapy recommendations provided if applicable.
Following the test, you’ll have a virtual consultation where a CPAP prescription may be issued.
No lab visit or follow-up testing is required – the entire process is completed online.

Symptoms of Sleep Apnea
1. Loud Snoring: most common of all symtoms.
2. Gasping: usually witnessed by a bedtime partner.
3. Excessive Daytime Sleepiness: regardless of how much sleep you get, you still feel tired.
4. Morning Headaches: Caused by decreased oxygen in the bloodstream.
5. Difficulty Concentrating: Memory and reduced attention due to lack of sleep.
6. Irritability: Due to poor sleep.

Why get tested at home?
For those showing signs and symptoms of sleep apnea, opting for a Home Sleep Study can offer a more convenient and comfortable way to diagnose sleep apnea.
Skip the line! Many Canadian laboratories currently have extensive wait times for sleep studies, with some facilities experiencing wait times of over a year.
Ordering your apnea test online can expedite a diagnosis and allow you to start therapy in under two weeks.
Convenience! The entire process will take place in the comfort of your own home. There is no need to travel and sleep in a foreign environment.
Simplicity! Sleep apnea and sleep testing can be complicated. The WatchPat One is completed at home and does not require follow up testing in a laboratory.

If you follow the instructions correctly, the WatchPAT ONE has up to a 95% correlation with an in-lab test when determining if Obstructive or Central Sleep Apnea is present.
The WatchPAT ONE is an FDA and Health Canada-approved home sleep study that is able to determine the presence of OSA and CSA.
CPAP Therapy can be prescribed based off the results of the test.
How to get accurate results
1. Remove any nearby Wi-Fi/Bluetooth accessories for the night (in the immediate vicinity of where the device will be recording). These include but not limited to: near by phones, electric blankets, Wi-Fi router, Wi-Fi range extenders, Smart Plugs, Security Cameras, Speakers, Printers, Light Bulbs, ETC. These devices can disrupt proper communication and skew downloaded results.
2. Review all inserts in your shipment for proper device application and to prevent test errors.
3. We recommend sleeping alone on the night of the test to decrease the chance of sleep disturbance.
4.Wear the finger probe on your non-dominant hand. If your fingers are thick, consider wearing the finger probe on the pinky finger of the non-dominant hand, as the probe can otherwise feel tight.
5. Your phone should be plugged in and within 15 feet of your sleeping position.
6. Do not remove the device once the test has started.
7. If you need to go to the bathroom in the night, remain attached to your testing device and bring your phone with you if the travel is greater than 20 feet away.
8. This is an electronic device. Do not get it wet.
9. Use the battery provided to you in the box.

**ATTENTION ONTARIO CLIENTS**
It is important to note that in Ontario, the Assistive Devices Program (ADP) will currently fund a level one, polysomngraphy sleep study. These are only done in a laboratory, with additional monitoring devices. If this level of sleep test is done, the study is covered in full AND the PAP machine thereafter will be fund up to $415.
The WatchPat one is a Home Sleep Apnea Test, and is designated a level-three sleep study. Unfortunately, there is no available funding in Ontario for Home Sleep Tests or the subsequent purchase of PAP equipment afterwards.
