Common Questions

What’s the difference between CPAP/APAP and BiPAP (BiLevel)?

CPAP delivers one fixed pressure; APAP operates within a prescribed range. BiPAP (BiLevel) provides two pressures—one for inhale and a lower one for exhale—when clinically indicated by your prescriber.

Do BiPAP machines have different therapy modes?

Yes—common ones are S, ST, VAuto (some also offer CPAP). Choose the mode on your prescription and check each product’s Therapy modes spec. ASV requires an ASV-specific device/Rx.

Do you carry ASV devices, and how are they different from standard BiPAP?

Yes—ASV (Adaptive Servo-Ventilation) devices such as the AirCurve 11 ASV, are a specialized form of bilevel therapy used only when prescribed (commonly for certain central or complex sleep apnea cases). They use an algorithm that adapts breath-by-breath support, and availability/models vary. You’ll need a specific ASV prescription; confirm with your clinician. Contact us to verify ASV stock, modes, and warranty before ordering.

Do BiPAP machines have multiple modes (e.g., CPAP, S, ST, VAuto)?

Many BiLevel devices support multiple therapy modes. Some include CPAP mode; others add S/ST (with backup rate) or auto-bilevel options. Buy the mode your prescription specifies, and confirm the “Modes/Therapy modes” spec on the product page. Contact us with any questions.

Which masks are compatible with BiPAP?

Most masks connect via a standard 22 mm fitting and work across brands. Certain travel devices may need an adapter—see each product’s Compatibility notes or ask us to confirm before purchase.
